Malaga in summer is best enjoyed from the heights. The city's roof terraces and panoramic terraces have become real meeting points, perfect for watching the sunset, having a cool drink and letting yourself be carried away by the relaxed pace of Malaga's summer. If you're a newcomer or just want to rediscover the city, here are some of our favourites.

Rooftops with atmosphere and style
1. Áurea Rooftop at AC Málaga Palacio
One of the city's classics, with a breathtaking view of the Cathedral, the port and the sea. Ideal for a sunset drink or a light dinner with friends. Its infinity pool is for hotel guests only, but the views are for everyone!
2. La Terraza de la Alcazaba (Hotel Alcazaba Premium)
Located in front of the Alcazaba and the Roman Theatre, this terrace has one of the best urban views in Malaga. Young atmosphere, well-crafted cocktails and good music make it a vibrant option to start the night.
3. Room Mate Valeria Rooftop
Neat design, tropical plants and views of Muelle Uno. An oasis in the heart of the city centre with a relaxed atmosphere and a good drinks menu. There is usually a DJ in the summer evenings.
Quieter (and less touristy) corners
4. La Terraza de San Juan
At the top of the Hotel Málaga Premium, this terrace is a little more discreet, with views of the rooftops of the centre and the tower of the church of San Juan. Perfect for a quiet date or a chat with friends.
5. Oasis Terrace (Hotel Only YOU Málaga)
Located above the renovated Plaza de la Marina, this roof terrace combines elegance and tranquillity. Less known, but with quality service and a privileged view of the centre and the port.
Local tips for maximum enjoyment
- When to go: The best times are just before sunset. In summer, between 20:00 and 21:30. This way you avoid the heat and enjoy the change of light over the city.
- What to order: Try a tinto de verano, a Malaga vermouth or a cocktail with local fruits (mango, lemon, custard apple).
Malaga from above
From the terraces in the city centre to the rooftops overlooking the sea, Malaga looks different when you see it from above. If you've just moved or are considering moving, this is one of the best ways to connect with the city: a drink in hand, a picture-postcard view, and that Malaga breeze that makes it all better.
